One of my favorite techniques is alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodan). It's good for calming and grounding, and can quickly take things down a notch.

All the videos for this technique show exactly how to hold your hand, but that's optional. Just do whatever feels OK for you. The important part is to sit comfortably with good posture, and cycle your breath back and forth: exhale left, inhale left, exhale right, inhale right… Works like a charm!

Context: It's my first in two years, because pandemic. Today, my body was like, "Nope, you don't need the wall today." Then again, in yoga, meditation, and pranayama, sometimes we don't go back to Square One; sometimes we go back to Square Five or even Ten.
