@beebrookshire an interesting look at changing attitudes. The case of New Zealand cat lovers is an interesting one, especially when you factor in the movement. In general I would say most Kiwis are in favour, but there's the uneasy knowledge, pushed to the back of their minds that their sweet moggy is a vicious killing machine…

Very interesting and controversial.

An overabundance of non-native birds in a Waikato wetland sanctuary endangers the water quality.

Solution? Reintroduce rats to try to drive out birds fouling a lake ().

Heat map shows where rats have been detected in our community predator control bait station program Spring 2022. Brighter colours more rats. Way less than last year. More birds are flourishing.

Beautiful songs from this bird as I was doing rounds this evening.

Nice weather for our pest free work. Today included weeding around small harakeke flax and cutting and pasting woolly nightshade and blackberries. Oh, and removing rubbish.

Stoat in winter coat doing what it does best, eating prey. Introduced in 1879 they are NZ's number one killer of native birds. We need more traps to get to the goal of Predator-Free 2050.
