Finally, I've been hosting the @podcast #TheFireTheseTimes since early 2020 and since then it's become one of my main projects. Every week I interview guest(s) about various topics, usually with the following themes: #PrefigurativePolitics #Internationalism #ClimateChange and #Solarpunk. 9/?

There is no such a thing as an "absolute liberty" that we should aim to pursue. It doesn't exist, we will never live in "absolute liberty", and to believe in such a possibility is probably an idealization that we unconsciously took from liberalism. The "authority" (I better say "determination") of society will always shape our desires, our possibilities, our relation to the world, our very perception...

But the logical conclusion from this line of thought is *not* that of the tankies, who somewhat extrapolate that capital and state authority are also "necessary" and "inevitable". It is all the contrary.

We cannot help but to engage in social exchange, we cannot help but to build our relations to the environment through our socially-aquired knowledge, we cannot help but to let us be shaped by our social life (and also to shape other people's lives too). That's why prefigurative politics are so important.

We have to build the world that we want us to be shaped by. And we have to do it every single day. Either you transform the world around you for good or you get transformed by it for bad and lose yourself. This transformation will be the revolution: the prefiguration of the lives that we want to live (or the ones that we would like to live but we couln't). It is a revolution for life.

Yesterday I caught up with two Brazilian friends, talked about Lula's election, and the future of the country. Though they spoke of #Revolution, I was sad that the idea of #PrefigurativePolitics was completely foreign to both of them. It’s hard to imagine any genuine political, social, or economic revolution without it.
