As hypothesized, participants showed worse performance following internally-directed attention compared to externally-directed attention (main effect). This effect was strongest in the worry condition (an interaction).

Especially in service contexts in which there are no clear signals regarding 'bureaucratic success criteria' which are normally the basis for cream-skimming, AL signals may serve as supplements that clients will be easier to process during service provision.

We use a #preregistered vignette experiment and a subsequent conjoint experiment to provide evidence in different service areas (unemployment and social security services).
