#Reading #recommendation... I'm just finishing up reading Marin Gurii's "The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium" (2014). It is absolutely #prescient.

It contains the best description of North America's current #political climate that I've seen; he clearly saw, writing a decade ago, exactly how toxic our collective #dialectic would get.

And more importantly, he saw the #danger it represented to our very democracies.

I was just aware and awake attuned
To my body and mind attentive to
The earth and I could feel the
Natural freon of the spring
Or creek waters flowing
Cooling the atmosphere
No prognosticator I nor
Prescient posturing
Needed and the
Simple fact

I had a bad feeling about her the minute we were introduced. Her presentation was faultless, a designer dress that was understated, but elegant. Modest jewellery adorned her wrist and neck and her hair was styled perfectly, She was well spoken, obviously coming from an educated and privileged family from one of those well-to-do homes in the eastern suburbs. Something though didn't seem right, she was too perfect.

My brother was intoxicated by her charms, I could tell that he was absolutely smitten. He was a hard worker, running a highly successful company after years of hard work. There had been a write up about him in the paper, as a young entrepreneur to watch. There had been many suitors, some quite lovely but my brother was after a certain type. They had to be glamorous and mixing in the 'right' circles. I was very protective, as an older sibling I was a little wiser to the way the world whereas he was more impulsive. Maybe I was being too protective, or maybe I was aware of her true intentions.

My parents too were uncertain, the expression in my mother's face told the story. She was not the best at hiding how she felt, her displeasure was obvious.
Sometimes, there is an aura that follows people, a sense of foreboding that lingers in their presence. I hoped my suspicions weren't prescient, but that piece of paper that fell out of her Gucci handbag would reveal her sinister intentions.
