Ever come across a highly scuffed laminated album cover? Well, that which can be easily scuffed usually can be easily buffed (except scraggly old white guys).
Bonus - you'll get a lot of embedded dirt off in the process.
But be careful. While almost any acrylic polish will work, go easy. Old laminated covers can easily de-laminate.
And no, the "after" photo does not look that good due to any remaining polish. It was cleaned after buffing.
