Got home from church and Mrs. Ref was cutting up veggies after making dip. It feels hot as hell out today, so having some cold watermelon, veggies and dip for an afternoon snack before the PLN was perfect.
Now for some golf and that nap before I head back for our monthly #Taize service.

Today was a rough one. Long-time parishioner died, funeral Friday … a day after I leave town. Needed to find a sub and get them connected.
Angry VM from po’d neighbor re:homeless couple on our property causing problems. Actual call from concerned neighbor re:same couple.
Confrontation and eviction off property of same couple.
And a lot of emails from angry vestry members about how I’m bad for the parish.

It has been a week. I have not had the time I normally have to work on a sermon. I hurt. I can’t think right when I hurt. So today I scrolled through past sermons until I found one I could reuse. It needs editing because it’s from 10-11 years ago, and from a different place. But it’ll work for this Sunday.

In hindsight, today was a normal day: services at 8 & 10:15 with a baptism at the second. Coffee hour, a short break, a Zoom class at 1:30, then home for a bit. Back to church at 5 for our monthly Taize service, now home for good. It was a normal day, but I. Am. EXHAUSTED.

Had a husband/wife visit a couple of Sundays and make noises like they might want to become regular members.
Found out he died last night (cancer).
Talked with the wife this morning. And just finished putting together a “team” of widows to be with her if she comes back to church.
