I'm very excited to see the ICO publishing a guide about *Privacy in the product design lifecycle*, it's a step forward to pull privacy work out of the compliance world it finds itself mired in and make it real and impactful. Many thanks to @cennydd for his work making that happen and for the fantastic #PrivacySeriously conference today.

@hedders apologies, I was being flippant … #PrivacySeriously is an #ICO hosted set of webinars going on this afternoon
"If you're not an asshole to the consumer, generally you're okay." — @harrybr giving the kind of near-legal advice that I heartily endorse! #PrivacySeriously
These (illegal?) #DeceptivePatterns are normalised in development teams, compliance teams and (commercial?) management structures.
Massive culture change is required.

Language as well as design contributes to the (designed in?) confusing nature of #CookieBanners.
How is a "normal person" expected to navigate and actually consent to a load of things they are unlikely to understand?
80-something% of cookie banners analysed are "illegal" in some way or another.

For the people who watched my ICO #PrivacySeriously keynote, a few links about things that I mentioned.
First, the initial article that led to the keynote is "Privacy as Product" https://berjon.com/privacy-as-product/
"Nowhere does it say 'this needs to suck' in the regulations" 😆
