Another case of the #privatesector seeing the #publicsector as a key market for #services... in this case peddling the comms, but incorrect notion that #benefits #fraud is a major problem .... it isn't!
Some years ago Kevin Farnsworth coined the term 'corporate welfare' for the range of interactions between firms & Govt. departments, often ensuring such firms were partly shielded from the more difficult & competitive markets they normally work in....

In an interview with the FT, Thomas Buberl, Axa Insurance's CEO baldly notes that the #NHScrisis presents 'quite a few business opportunities' as he continues to expand Axa's private #healthcare business in the UK.
It'll be no surprise that he would see the travails of the #Tory engineered health care crisis this way, and merely confirms that the #privatesector completely understand what the #Tories' wrecking of the #NHS is intended to achieve.

Dr John Puntis of #KeepOurNHSPublic and Doctors in Unite was interviewed on LBC recently.
The private sector doesn’t train staff - it relies upon those who are so burned out that they look for work elsewhere.
Relying on the #privatesector to plug the gaps in the #NHS workforce will *worsen* our staffing problem, not improve it.

So, Steve Barclay says (on expanding #privatesector involvement in the #NHS), 'We must use every available resource to deliver life-saving checks to ease pressure on the NHS'!
So here's an idea Mr Barclay:
a. money is a resource;
b. its available (because you're spending with private sector providers);
c. Why not add it to the core funding of the NHS.... pay the staff better & expand the maintenance funds...

I'm glad to see that Pony Ma and Lei Jun are standing up for the Chinese people by backing Xi's policies! This is proof that the Chinese private sector is very much alive and kicking. #China #Xi #PonyMa #LeiJun #PrivateSector #Revival #Support http://www.techmeme.com/230719/p45#a230719p45

Behind much of the discussion of #greedflation is the Q.of aggregated #profits in the #privatesector.
The mere maintenance of profit margins when input prices are rising itself may be inflationary... not having to absorb such costs says something about market power.
Equally, aggregate figures hide varying profit levels & if it is the providers of staples that can push prices up due to relatively inelastic demand, their profits may be hidden & raise headline inflation!

Hmmm... what's going on around #teeside?
For a third time the #Tory mayor of Tees Valley has been caught (this time via leak to FT) transferring public property to the development corporation he chairs without any scrutiny of the transfer lists or agreements.
Already there is an investigation being launched but given the prospective use by the #privatesector through the development corp., this (at the moment) looks a lot like a corrupt theft of publicly funded assets;
more #Torycorruption?

As the #Coronavirus enquiry picks up speed we're going to see a lot more stories of #privatesector profiteering, high payments to executives, all paid out of the profits made through the badly implemented procurement process put in place by the #Tories.
Corrupt practices meet slack contract negotiation & incompetent management will be a complex of themes likely to surface again & again.
(& don't get me started on #BorisJohnson's hissy fit about supplying of evidence).

#DominicRaab is not standing at the next #election, apparently citing the detrimental impact frontline politics is having on his family;
there's a lot of people who'll be glad to see him go, but many others hoping that his post-political career doesn't involve any organisation they work for.
Still, I'm sure Raab will find someone to employ him as his form of #toxic #management is a common practice across the #privatesector & his travails will have been a good advert for his 'skills'!

Today #KeirStarmer will declare the #NHScrisis to be the key issue for the next #election... which merely follows it growing place in people's priorities & concerns.
While it looks like he pledge to improve performance & reduce waiting times across the system, the real issue will be how he's going to do that?
If (like Wes Streeting has already hinted) they're going to increase the role of the #privatesector then for many this will confirm the final capitulation of Labour to Toryism... lets see
#keirstarmer #nhscrisis #election #privatesector
Exactly; we've been subjected to pollution to support their profits (by downgrading investment), now we have to pay for the ameliorative actions, agains to support their profits.... of course, this was predicted at the time of privatisation, but we were told that that the #privatesector was better at raising capital (& it was cheaper), as well as being better at assuming risk... a crock of sh*t as it turned out
As Brendan Greely (FT) reminds us this morning US Treasury Bonds look like #debt to US politicians & commentators but to the rest of the world they are #assets that underpin the financial system.
Indeed, we should recognise that all sovereign debt is actually the creation of performing assets that underpin the creation of credit & economic activity... so, when politicians talk of 'fiscal diicipline' they are actually seeking to constrain #privatesector activity, even if they don't realise it

This need not mean restricting #Healthcare provision. Rather it means avoiding a repetition of the mistakes made last time - paying massively over the odds in order to bring in the #privatesector being an obvious example. The embarrassing history of #NHSIT is another one.
Which means being prepared to accept that the period of #NewLabour #government, although positive in very many ways, was in no sense any kind of prelapsarian #GoldenAge!

China to encourage, support private sector.
China will unswervingly consolidate and develop the public sector and unswervingly encourage, support and guide the development of the non-public sector, according to a government work report submitted Sunday to the national legislature for deliberation.
China will deepen reform of state-owned capital and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and enhance the core competitiveness of the SOEs, said the report.
