Doing a little testing with #Privoxy, and #AdGuard's DNS servers https://adguard-dns.io/en/public-dns.html (the latter in lieu of a #PiHole server later).

No way to configure #tvOS to use a proxy (did I miss it?) but custom DNS servers was easy & appears to have had the immediate effect of removing ads on #Peacock and #ParamountPlus. I guess #Hulu is avoiding recognizable ad-servers?

Brauche mal bitte Hilfe von #Privoxy ExpertInnen. Läuft bei mir eigentlich problemlos. Leider spinnt aber die Instagram App und kann den Feed nicht laden. Offenbar reagiert die App empfindlich auf Verzögerungen. Was kann ich da tun?

The builtin sysupgrade procedure of #openwrt is complete crap, especially if you jump over multiple releases like from 19.07. to 22.03.

Lucky me, I was able to adjust my installation script for reinstalling all modules and configs (e.g., #radiusd, #openvpn, #wireguard, #privoxy, #adblock) on a system installed from scratch.

@th4lia absolutely. Ever since I learned the #privoxy chaining trick, I've almost exclusively used elinks to browse Tor (where you'd better never use Javascript anyway), but it requires setting up a new service and having a new user running, which in themselves add complexity or bloat.

This config trick simplifies everything, to the point of ridicule. Enjoy!

@kqzx The UK's Nescafe coffee TV adverts from the '90s were the last ones I can really remember. I discovered #Privoxy around the same time as the web, so...apparently Internet advertising exists, but I'm not convinced.

Die Config ist recht komplex, mit mehreren VLANs und WLANs, #FreeRADIUS-, #OpenVPN- und #Privoxy-Komponenten.

Und mit einem USB-Stick als Root-FS, den man als Overlay 'drüber-mounten muss. Ohne Skript hat das früher Stunden gedauert.

@iain@mastodon.xyz Looks like Pi-Hole doesn't have a Debian package yet. The core of it is a bunch of shell scripts, which shouldn't be a lot of effort to package. The analytics dashboards might be more work though.

Pi-Hole is essentially an ad-blocking DNS server. There was one earlier unsuccessful attempt to do ad-blocking using the BIND DNS server on FreedomBox.

@sebsauvage J’utilise #privoxy, qui bloque le gros des pubs… sans être une extension navigateur. Je le trouve aussi plus léger.
