Woo! #GoBlue Bring on the Sacrificial Lamb from the West, and let's see that #1 seed for the CFP. #ProblematicFave
I've randomly started re-reading old favorites, and there is this one serious I *loved* when I was younger (read: in my teens), and have re-read a lot over the years.
This time around I am noticing a LOT of problems (loads of hate towards... fat people, queer (esp gay + trans), SWers (though that one's more complicated), and obv I've also become much more sensitive towards (read: radically critical of) any entity doing "law enforcement"; plus, there is a lot of "romantic stalking" and "sexy" behavior that is quite questionable).
That all said... I kinda still love these books? Am on the third of... well, I own 18 or so of the series, but more than 20 are out to date. So I find myself _noticing but it's not stopping me_, which I find interesting.
Not looking for advice here, really, but curious whether you have such old faves, or whether you threw them out, or how you're handling this?

@ziphi We had some japonica right outside our bedroom window back in Wichita. Turns out the native-US kind doesn't have much smell, so people imported the Asian variety... which is invasive and problematic. I always had very mixed feelings about the fact that we just could NOT kill the stuff. Cut it back, doused it in acid (okay, vinegar), smothered it with a tarp, it didn't matter. I tried not to feel guilty when it bloomed outside the open window and I enjoyed it.
