I watched Paramount+'s #StarTrek Day special and the shadow of the deleted-by-accountants "#Prodigy" hung loudly, yet unmentioned, over its tributes to Star Trek animation. P+ did them a very big dirty.

Musical Interlude: OK, I don't DISLIKE Mozart, I'm just not a fan, although he does impress me in certain ways. Like his first symphony here, composed when the little bastard was eight. EIGHT. Sigh. I'm 58 and I've never done anything close to this. Oh well.

'Star Trek Discovery' seasons one and (mostly) two were a lesson in how to write a Star Trek story that doesn't belong in the timeline it's set in, nor Star Fleet.

'Star Trek Prodigy' is a lesson in how to write a Star Trek story not set in Star Fleet, but made adjacent to it, perfectly set in the timeline they chose.

Much as I found with prequal era Star Wars, the best writing for the new generation of Star Trek is happening in the animated space.

Picked up the #StarTrek #Prodigy game for the #Nintendo #Switch
One of the grand kids has it, and it looked fun. So when I saw it for $20.00 I thought ok, I'll get it.

I haven't played it yet, it just looked fun.
And I've only seen a couple of the Prodigy episodes, I got an idea of what the show is about, but not really.

I don't really have any idea what the game is about thou.

Holy cow, is it difficult to cancel #ParamountPlus. You can only cancel on the platform you signed up with. Also, there isn't a form to tell them WHY you're cancelling, which might be useful to them!

I hated the first party ads before each show, I wasn't pleased about the price hike, and the subtitles on #Voyager are pretty bad. But removing #StarTrek #Prodigy was the straw that broke the camel's back. Apparently if I want to watch Star Trek at my leisure, I need to buy the DVDs.

I find it strange that people are pining for #Discovery. It had a very interesting first season, but suffered greatly from bad writing for much of the second and third. Some gems there, but the overall arc Mary Sue’s Burnham IMO. Canceling #Prodigy is a travesty tho.

While #DoctorWho is up for an exciting year, I'm concerned Trek is disconcertingly dying right as it seemed to be reaching a point of renaissance. Like Marvel, it's prioritizing 45yo straight white dude-nerds nostalgia, over engaging kids or any other audience, and while I love #StarTrekSNW, it just ain't the future anymore than watching uncle ben die for the 28,000th time is.

@HolyMachina @my_actual_brain Sadly, #Prodigy has already been removed from #ParamountPlus, the so-called "home of all #StarTrek."

I highly recommend #TAS. Ignore (or love) the repetitive music and idiosyncratically odd animation, and find that the stories are actually pretty decent. Watch for the introduction of holodecks, replicators, and the Edosians to the Trek universe. "Yesteryear" by famed Trek writer DC Fontana gives important background development to #Spock.

Just imagine....... #BonnieTyler backed by an #Orchestra and a huge #Choir covering the #Prodigy's '#Firestarter'.....
