@Splodgenoodles I have an electric shredder from Bunnings that cost about $200 when I bought it, and it’s brilliant. I’ve woodchipped many pathways, mulched under fruit trees, added finely shredded prunings to my #compost heaps… I usually have a pile of “to be shredded” prunings piling up to be dealt with. Between that and my paper shredder, which gets every big of paper in the house, I have more fibrous crap for the garden than I know what to do with 😂
Best thing? When I lost my old garden a year or so back, I pulled up certain plants to take with me, some of which were in amongst the wood chips under the fruit trees. I could see the white filaments of #mycorrhiza all through it. So good for the soil! (Sadly, of course, I no longer have that soil. But I’m starting again at my new place!)
Also the electric shredder runs on #solarpunk (when run on a sunny day), doesn’t stink of petrol, and is pretty quiet considering. I love it.

From Nov. 7 (top) to today (bottom). Over 100 bags of leaves, collected around town and at the town transfer station, have been spread on the garden to compost in place or to break down to leaf mold in my three heaped Geobins. Only the leaves in the 7 black plastic bags are left; I've ordered a another Geobin for those. #sustainability #permaculture #producenowaste #valuethemarginal #catchandstoreenergy #leavetheleaves #compost

First post, so still getting the hang of things. Been working on some new garden beds this fall. Repurposing old cement blocks plus free rocks, woodchips, and leaves from the town's transfer station. Still to come: compost fill. Central NY State, zone 5b. #permaculture #gardening #ProduceNoWaste #GrowYourOwn
