The best UX outcomes will come from a deep understanding of the users’ current experiences. That deep understanding comes from a mature research practice.

When a predominately white firm invokes “human-centered design”, it begs the question of which humans we are designing for. These innovations and innovators become hyper-focused with designing a solution to a problem— such as not wanting to physically touch a germ-filled soap dispenser handle — that they forget they’re in a room of white engineers.

"We are content designers, shared owners of user experience (UX) design processes. Our job is to design experiences that are clear and meaningful for the people who use them. Clarity and meaning drives business impact for our organizations."
The most practical way to measure quality is to have experts look at the thing. Ideally as many experts as possible. Ideally the experts are truly experts. If 100 experts can’t find any problems, the thing is probably perfect.

What makes the path to solving a problem predictable or unpredictable? It has to do with how much control you have over influencing factors.

Being an exceptional designer does not equate to being skilled at delivering feedback that enhances the work of others. Some of the best technical designers I know give feedback that is so prescriptive it leads to dead-ends.

The performance of a system depends on how the parts fit, not how they act taken separately

"Viewable via an interactive map, the project unveils the potential for AI to discover locally plentiful materials while [considering] local industry, transportation, food cultures, and behaviors of the region’s population. The world’s current methods of manufacturing have become big drivers of the climate crisis – might Products of Place lead to one of the answers we’ve been looking for?" #ProductDesign #AI
Found the "Shape Up" process by #Basecamp: https://basecamp.com/shapeup
Learning: Flow diagrams (which they call breadboards) and fat marker sketches are enough design for proposal stage. Fine design comes always later.
What I really like:
- Fixed time slots, small enough to try and test.
- Clear commitment and buy in from stakeholders.
- Focus on the problem to solve.
Will try that out with one Product person. #Mixpanel and Basecamp seem to have good results with that.

Just because criticism is on offer doesn’t mean you have to seek it out or even listen to it.
Growth teams have destroyed so many products I loved. I think growth teams are an organizational anti-pattern. Growth should always be considered in a holistic user experience context. Do you agree? #UX #ProductManagement #ProductDesign

"In 2009, Sean Ellis, also known as the founder of Growth Hacking, wrote that he identify Product-Market fit with the help of a survey. He asks the users of a product however they would be disappointed if the product would no longer be available. If at least 40% of users say they would be very disappointed, it probably means that you have Product-Market Fit."

Anyone member of a #UXdesign / #ProductDesign online community they like? I found most of the ones I was part of either died off or devolved into self-promotion instead of quality feedback and discussions.

High-level design means not limiting yourself to activities you do but rather outcomes you’d like to influence. It means growing the scale of your ambitions on those outcomes.
