Sometimes you see posts with progress bars in characters, not an image, like

You'll see they're not all that precise, usually only noting the tens digit and not representing the ones digit in the bar. I was wondering how one could access intra-block precision, and came up with the notion of dominoes. As in

🂋🂋🂋🁥🁣 🁣🁣🁣🁣🁣 32%

🂋🂋🂋🂋🂋 🂋🁽🁢🁢🁢 68%

Though naturally this works better if one uses dozenal:

🂓🂓🂓 🂓🂓🂓 🂓🂓🂓 🂓🂓🂅
(spaces for counting clarity)
EX per gross, or 142/144 decimal, or 99%

(Using X for ten instead of the preferred turned-digit-two and
E for eleven instead of turned-digit-three, since the preferred characters are often not in the fonts people use. See: ↋↊ )

I suspect the dominoes will often be too small for people to make out the pips, but I occupied myself for an hour, so that's a win.

Haben jetzt die 2.1.9 von GitHub laufen. Meiner Frau kann ich die App zwar immer noch nicht schmackhaft machen ("das muss noch einfacher und klarer [...]").

Beispiel:

Da die TopAppBar gleichzeitig ein Textfeld ist, will sie hier intuitiv den Aufgabentitel einzugeben. Außerdem steht hier immer "Teilaufgabe", obwohl ja zuerst eine Hauptaufgabe angelegt wird. Die Suche findet zudem keine Teilaufgaben.

Just learned the PV command. It's magic!

For example, instead of running:

mysql -u user -ppwd < yourfile.sql

run:

pv yourfile.sql | mysql -u user -ppwd

Result: a nice progress bar with percentages, byte counts and estimate completion time. Great stuff for realtime watching any large file operations.
