Growing up, during the , , and presidencies, I was taught that we were living in an enlightened society.

We are actually living in a repeat of the excesses of the . The are again suffering for the .

This was exacerbated by Reagan and Bush with the born from flawed reasoning. The rich will NEVER redistribute their wealth.

Interesting perspective on the U.S. advocacy-to-policy pipeline: I'm finding evidence that in 1923 when Harry Laughlin & Charles Davenport of the Record Office were advocating restriction as applied eugenics, they stopped printing their own reports because Congress was doing it for them. Legislators deemed recording & advancing these studies an official interest, in the process building support for legislating eugenics.

Continuing my historical analysis of NYC's new involuntary incarceration policy re: "severe mental illnesses," history warns we must keep diagnostic carceral power away from non-medical professionals (i.e., law enforcement).
