Anyone know how feasible it would be to use #haproxy to access ilo3 on an older #proliant to get past the ancient #SSL ciphers that modern browsers no longer support?

I will do some thermal stress tests to see how the air flow impacts thermals (including the #Mikrotik router I am mounting internally) and how my goal to seal up the gaps near the PCIe slots (to keep dust from coming in unfiltered).

At this point I'll probably get a cut-to-fit nylon PC filter mesh but the filter retainer does have space for something potentially pleated...

Ok, I need some opinions: I am going to be putting an HPE MicroServer Gen8 at a remote site. My plan is to make this as self-contained and resilient as possible; In addition to mounting a router inside the server case, a friend 3D printed a dust filter holder for the front.

But what filter medium should I use?

It has only one fan, so I need to keep static pressure to a minimum.

Pending thermal tests I intend on sealing up the gaps in the back (near the PCIe slots)

Don't worry though, I stuck with the RAID-z2. 🤣
I am intending to put this system pretty far from me so I am doing my best to ensure I can manage it completely remotely.
The people there will be able to replace drives (I replaced the drive caddy's Torx screws with Phillips to make that easier) but I don't want to have to rely on any other help.

Setting up an HPE MicroServer Gen8 for offsite backup use (meaning I will physically locate this box offsite and I will replicate to it from my prod storage).

I always use RAID 6/RAID-z2 for my storage systems, so the 4x 14TB Seagate Exos X16 drives would leave me with 25 TB.

I don't usually use such large capacity drives, so the jump to 38 TB raw capacity that comes with RAID-z is a bit more tempting than usual. 😬

And it's a backup appliance too... 😅

@varni @heiseonline Habe ich auch erst so gesehen. Dann habe ich von unseren #vmware Admins erfahren, dass es für ältere Server (von denen wir zum Glück nur noch wenige haben) gar keine supporteten Updates mehr gibt. So gibt es z.B. für die sehr beliebten #hp #proliant G8 Server, die bei HP gerade erst aus dem Hardware-Support raus gelaufen sind keine Updates mehr, da diese offiziell von vmware nur bis #esxi7 unterstützt werden. Die Thematik ist also nicht ganz so einfach wie gedacht.

Отрезал кусок нетканой салфетки. В следующий раз засуну пару отработанных медицинских масок на пробу, но они гораздо толще.

Живёт в гардеробной комнате, собирает всю шерстяную пыль со всех тряпок в доме. Можно было войлок для валенков из вентилятора добывать.
