1. I'm Ella Hereth and I teach in Indianapolis, IN. I'm a department lead in a middle school and also teach 8th grade math/algebra. This will be my 13th year in math education.
2. Pies>Cakes>Donuts
3. I like gardening and have slowly been ripping out aging invasive landscaping around my house (those 1960s landscapers loved their English Ivy and Wintercreeper) and replacing it with native plants. Here's a pic of my progress. I also have a 5 yo and a 9 yo who take up alot of my time.

I am Sara Vaughn, aka @vaughn_trapped. I teach 8th grade math, so that's been anything from Inclusion Math 8 through algebra 2. I currently teach Integrated Maths 1 and 2.
I love pie -- making it as well as eating it. A couple summers ago I was on a quest to make the perfect crust. Doughnuts likely beat cake for me, but I am starting to like more cakes lately. I remember the rare occasions when I was little that my mom would make doughnuts. Doughnut holes are my favorite!
Outside of class, I enjoy cooking, sewing and felting. I am a fairly new felter, but I love it. You never really know how something is going to turn out!

1) Hello, I am a HS math teacher in SoCal. I've taught everything from Basic Math (back in the day) to precalculus. Looking forward to teaching AP Precalculus in the fall.
2) First apple pie, second donut and third cake
3) Outside of the classroom, I am a soccer mom. With 2 boys playing club, there's very little down time. Between practices, league games and tournaments, we are busy all year long. In addition to that, I became the photographer for the two teams. I enjoy capturing the soccer action and recording images of my boys doing what they love.
Thanks @jreulbach and @samjshah for bringing us together.
I would love to pick your brain on #SBG @Mathvice I attempted it last year but I know it could be better.

Hello! I'm Anna and I've been teaching all sorts of middle and high school math to kids and sometimes working with math teachers for 20 years. I fell in love with math in college and the romance is still going strong, after all these years šš„° I now live in beautiful Boulder, Colorado after a decade in the Bay area and another two decades in Chicago.
For fun outside the classroom, I love to run on trails, climb (indoor and outside), do yoga, watch movies and play board games with my family, read all the things, and go to music festivals with friends. I've got a kiddo starting 10th grade so I'm also trying to maximize time together before he grows all the way up.

Hello! I am Mark Kreie.
1. I live and teach in Brookings, SD. I've taught all levels of HS mathematics throughout my career. This coming year I will be teaching pre-algebra, algebra 2, and AP statistics.
2. This is extremely tough because each depends on the type or flavor. I'll assume I'm ranking my favorite of each, which would then be this... donuts, then pie, and finally cake.
3. I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to travel, play games, and do many sports / activities.
I hope to get to know each of you more on this new digital journey!

My name is Kurt Shepherd. I will start my third year of teaching 8th grade math intervention after 26 years of teaching math in 7th and 8th grades. I live in Great Falls, Montana. Doughnuts are tops since they are easier to get. When not teaching math I tend to try and relax. Between my daughters and dogs any hobbies have taken a bit of a back seat š#ClassroomMath #introduction #prompt1

Superb! Weāre introducing ourselves, weāre getting used to the platform! Wunderbar!
One thing we all have in common in this community, no matter how different we are (including in many of your terrible rankings of desserts from #prompt1), is that we have worked with kids in the classroom teaching math. We all have millions of stories inside of us that are hilarious, heartbreaking, harrowing, hopefulā¦ When you rallied against the administration, when a kid said something wonderfully outrageous, when you accidentally had an answer to a start-of-class question be 69 and you were being observedā¦
So we ask you to share just one small story from your teaching life -- something youāre comfortable sharing! Something youād share with friends over dinner after a particularly eventful week. (Remember if you use the mathstodon.xyz site, you can get 1729 characters in a post.)
In your post:
1. Share your SMALL story. No pressureā¦ and remember this is a judgment free zone.
2. Tag your post with #Prompt2 and #ClassroomMath
Lastly, to practice using mathstodon, hereās the new challenge! In the next few days, go to your LOCAL timeline. Thatās posts by EVERYONE on mathstodon.xyz (or whatever āinstanceā youāre on), not just people you follow. Find someone new to follow AND boost a post of theirs that you find. (Boost is like a re-tweet.) That will help others who follow you see something you find interestingā¦ and maybe theyāll start following that person too.

Hello! I teach high school math (mostly algebra 1, honors algebra 2 and geometry) and robotics in midcoast Maine.
Cakes and pies are equal and greater than donuts.
