What the article misses is the #California #tax structure was gutted in the 80’s by #Prop13.

The public was sold on a greedy theft of generational wealth by not aligning taxes with housing prices.

@Staines #Prop13 is a stain. We should protect old people in their homes, as most states do, but everyone else should pay their fair share, especially landlords renting at market rates.

We all rightly hate #Prop13 (and its related props to require 2/3s votes on taxes), but could it be one reason California is so heavily Democratic?

The wealthy, corporations, and other fiscal conservatives in our state know they can support Democrats and still block any tax.
