I will be deleting my Cloud Island account as soon as the migration of followers is completed. I went over there because I was told that it was a safe space for people like me. It turns out that I am just as unsafe over there as I was on the main NZ Masto server. Turns out that being #ProPalestine can get you reported and suspended on Cloud Island. The same old tropes have been thrown into my face, and I am upset.

Israel is NOT Judaism. Nor is Zionism a part of Judaism. Israel and Zionism are both secular. Israel uses Zionism to drum up support for the continued oppression and genocide of Palestinian Christians, Muslims, and Jews (yes, there ARE Jews in Palestine).

Being #ProPalestine is NOT being #AntiSemitic. Not even a little.

The idea of putting everything political behind a CW is both (relatively) clear AND unacceptable. In addition to making posting harder, it appears to impose the stigma that political posts (or LGBTQ+ posts, or Black posts or #ProChoice posts, or #ProPalestine posts, etc.) are somehow less "nice," less important.
