Recently the #EnterpriseD won my Mastodon poll for my next big prop replica. I didn’t how I was going to do it. The Thingiverse STL file has a solid interior. I knew I wanted lights in it / on it, I had no idea how I was going to do it. So I did what we all do: put it to the side.
So the next print, it’s on the printer now, is #DevilsTower from #CloseEncountersoftheThirdKind. I thought I’d paint it to make it look like stone, add some scale model shrubbery. But wouldn’t it be cool if there were a huge spaceship hovering over it? There’s no STL files of the mothership but I still kept going. Watched a video on the miniature effects and one of the tricks they used was painting over transparent so lights shone through. Ah ha! Boom, Enterprise D. Now I had some direction. #3DPrinting #PropMaking

Daughter #1 is working on a short film of her own invention, so we're making a prop box to hold a Grayle... you know what they are!
Work in progress. The box should be assembled by the end of the day when the finishing team come in to make it look old.

I am using @Cosplayshop.be flexbond thinned with water and I apply it with a flat brush. First attempt at painting the golden key of ACG from the 8 bi classic atic atac. The airbrush gives a much better effect with gold paint than hand painting does this is the first ive used it and really like it.
The key breaks apart into 3 parts, and lock together again using magnets
Ive still to varnish it. At the moment it does have more of a brass look to it. But i kind of like it.

Did some experimentation today with some #Vallejo paints and #Molotow Liquid Chrome, finishing this Starfleet Academy Chancellor commbadge from Star Trek: Picard. I think I want to try to do more of the painting on this with my little #airbrush, but I'm not quite sure how I'd go about masking some of these areas.
