2/4 I also have Chronic Kidney Disease coupled with a troublesome Prostate that interferes with my Bladder thus meaning I have a permanent Catheter, I also need to take various medications for these issues. I have been in Intensive Care in the hospital more than once.

Maybe so but MRIs are very expensive and, unless Medicare & other medical insurance programs will pay for them, the use of MRIs to routinely screen for prostate cancer is extremely unlikely.

The method used currently is to detect for prostate cancer does NOT rely exclusively on PSA testing.

If a man's PSA rises in a concerning manner, a biopsy is taken which is the best proof of the presence or absence of cancer (of any type). And, I'm certain that a biopsy would still be required to prove the presence of cancer even after MRI screening.

My prostate cancer was discovered after a high PSA test result and a biopsy which gave me the time to decide whether or not to treat it. I chose an advanced method of radiation treatment and I've been cancer free for the 13 years since it was 1st discovered w/o any negative side effects directly associated with the treatment.

4. One more today!
The word 'Biopsy' sorta scared me but truthfuly, it was nothing. The only thing you really give up is your modesty. I experienced Zero pain from the procedure or afterwards. Next came treatment.
I has 23 low dose radiation shots, 5 days in a row, 2 days off till done. Again Zero pain discomfort.
Then BrashyTherapy where they implant many radioactive seeds, same procedure as the biopsy. Painless, abit embarassing but getting us to it. #prostate cancer

3. My PSA was monitored annually until my PSA numbers took a jump in 2014 and then went to a 6 month test. It slowly begin to climb.
I speak only for myself. My PSA started with a number of about .84 and by the time my Urologist decided I needed a biopsy, it had risen to over 5. At that point he and an Oncologist did the biosy and con firmed my prostate had developed cancer and I would benefit from treatment. Later!

2. Benign Prostate Hyperplasia simple mean ther is a bit of swelling of the prostae and it constricts the urinary track reducing the flow of urine. It is not indicative of cancer and common as men grow older.
The urologist confirmed the BPH with a digital exam and performed a blood test for my PSA score which indicates only, that there appeared to be no problem.
From that point on, I had the PSA monitored annually from then.

The cancer spread and he died a very awful death in 2006. Very painful to watch too.
