It steals the plastids from a CILIATE who stole the plastids from the cryptophyte! This is called kleptoplasty and the resulting plastids in the Dinophysis called kleptoplastids. Now I didn't even get into the toxin Dinophysis produces, okadaic acid... Don't worry though, it's actually not a strong toxin and it is debated whether or not we actually need to monitor for it because it does not conclusively cause many problems. 2/2
