#Degoogling means tha each #Google service needs to be replaced, step by step.

Since I'm not in a hurry and this isn't a race, it might take me weeks or months. It requires evaluation for the possible alternative apps. Sometimes it might not be possible to find a 1:1 replacement but instead a combination of different apps.

So far I've replaced #GoogleKeep with #Obsidian and #GoogleCalendar will be replaced by #protoncalendar.

Bloody hell..! Proton have removed the Search from their Android Calendar app. Apparently an experimental feature but it was working fine for me - makes it much less useful to me now 😭.

This is the problem when a company starts trying to be all things to all people - spending too much time developing their new password manager instead of working on the services we already using.

Looks like #protoncalendar finally has a search function 🎉.

I've been all in on #proton products for years now and while their offerings are not perfect for everyone they mostly align with my requirements.

The addition of search on the calendar app is a massive tick in the box for me.

I was waiting for this feature on iOS. But it does not seem to work yet (no #ProtonCalendar on the share sheet). Or is there a new version of the app that doesn't show up yet on my phone?

Speaking of #ProtonMail, I wish I could share a calendar with people in my “organization”. I don’t understand how that wasn’t implemented from the start when they offer business subscriptions. Or at least for it to have an option to invite people through the .ics format.. Also why are other basic features like “busy/free/away” missing, too? 🤔
I would really like to use it instead of my self-hosted #Nextcloud, but these are some seriously basic features that I need..

@freyfogle Most calendars default to the currently preferred time zone, and some (I tested #GoogleCalendar, #Microsoft #Outlook, #ProtonCalendar) don't support floating time zones at all. Proton Calendar out-and-out refuses to process invitations sent with a floating time zone.

This is more of a tip for automated systems, e.g. using DateTime, which is why I sent it to the @Perl group and tagged it #Perl.
