So, anyone have any thoughts on #ProtonMail and #ProtonVPN Looking at a new mail provider for my domain and a VPN. I've heard rumors they aren't as private as they claim, but I have no proof and want to be sure before I plunk down the cash for a subscription

@protonmail - well I said I'd report back after a month so here I am and I have to say that I've not been experiencing the connectivity issues with #protonvpn that I had in the past.

I still get blocked when accessing certain sites but #expressvpn doesn't overcome this (blame cloudflare for that I think)

I've been running it for a month on my phone and all good there so maybe I can drop #expressvpn when it renews.

#ProtonVPN and #Linux.... so, it works great, but has a weird thing where if you suspend or hibernate your desktop session, you get disconnected and have to delete the UUID for vpn-ipv6leak-protection before it will let you reconnect.
Thinking of making a #ShellScript to do this for me, but for now I just run <nmcli connection show>, copy the UUID, then <nmcli connection delete> with the UUID, and then reconnect.
Anyways; it's a fine morning, here.

So far enjoying using DuckDuckGo browser and its App and Site Tracking blocking tech. I think the only complaint I have with the way it works on mobile is that the app tracking is done by creating an artificial VPN so all network traffic goes through the DuckDuckGo app for the detection to occur. Which means as far as I can tell, that you cannot then also use a VPN to route your traffic through a 'private' network such as using the @protonvpn. Which I would definitely prefer to do also.

I could make #protonvpn work by following the suggestions to downgrade urllib3 package:

pip3 install --upgrade urllib3==1.26.16 --break-system-packages

Je fais relativement confiance à mon vpn je sais pas si je devrais. (#protonVPN) mais n'ayant pas de téléphone rooté je ne sais pas si il existe une méthode pour empêcher des app de se servir sur ton téléphone.

So I just found out that @protonvpn despite not giving an IPv6 address to my device, still acts as an IPv4 to IPv6 gateway, as I'm still able to access IPv6 only services and with an IPv6 that is not the one from my ISP.

@mkj many #VPN services offer PAYG but I don't want any subscription at all and the hassle of cancelling (or forgetting to cancel). I have a very time-limited use, so would be happy to use for a week or two.

#ProtonVPN does indeed offer free, but doesn't work for my particular use case (which is related to media companies apparently not wanting my money for their content, and thus need UK access).
