Two weeks nice family vacation, now slowly back to business. Great start:

- my #PrusaMini had its filament sensor turned off (wtf, can't remember I did that?), continues printing happily without filament...
- #Thunderbird 115 freezes after a couple of seconds on #Manjaro (and I can't downgrade because the new version already messed with my profile in a backwards-incompatible way)...
- the #GnuPG pinentry fix needed for #NixOS breaks gpg everywhere else with my synced dotfiles...

The #PrusaMini uses dusl rods, which are only fixed on one side. So I don't think it would be too bad. And 600g weight is normal for a hotend.

#247printing had one video where all of hjs hotends he measured were between 400g and 800g, which surprised me. My hotend, for example, is 400g after removing the metal cover.

@koz @andy_warb I can confirm that my #PrusaMINI's Y axis is ridiculously loud at about 80mm/s or so. Sounds very unhealthy. So lubricarion is all it takes?

I never noticed the motors being so hot, have to check next time I do a long print.

Loudest for me is the little hot end fan (or however it's called). Always has been. Can one put a noctua fan instead, maybe? 🤔

@calebkraft Ah, I decided to go with #MagicPhoenix as that kit comes with the mods I view as essential and a very good reputation, I'm about 12 hours in to ~200 hours of printing parts on my #prusamini.

First pieces of the new #voron have been printed on my #prusamini, dimensions are bang on and they look good enough, overhangs aren't perfect but that's something I can fix as it looks like the fan duct has taken a knock so printing a new one before I continue with the long slog to get all these pieces ready to build.

Thanks, I'll check it out. It kinda sucks because on my #Creality, I can easily jump between firmwares, no problem at all, and no one will ever know, on inspection of the printer if I resturn to stock firmware.

Created my first 3D printed "design". It's a functional print, as it replaces lost feed for our metal framed bunk beds. It's supposed to help the floor from getting scratched. 🤞🏼Hoping it works. 🫨

The closer I get to placing my PrusaMK4 kit order the more I think I might just build a #voron .

I love my #PrusaMini but it's firmware is just silly at times and it did have design flaws (extruder, hotend PTFE tube) that I had to fix with 3rd party mods, I much prefer klipper to any prusa firmware and honestly the only feature the mk4 has that I truly want is the loadcell and I can build a voron with tap which offers basically the same features. #3dprinting

I installed an ESP Wifi module when I assembled my #Prusa Mini. This works like a charm. It takes a little longer to transfer larger files, but that's not a problem. I can also check the print status via the browser. #Octoprint is yes the Swiss-Army-Knife, and I also once made a time-lapse video. Since then it was no longer in operation. At the moment I don't see the big advantage in Octoprint for me. Maybe that still comes… #prusamini #3ddruck #3dprinting
