#PSNI needs strong leadership whereas #NorthernIreland just needs someone to show leadership of any kind. However, it appears that Jeff can dictate to everyone including the Policing Board!
There is many things in Northern Ireland that needs to change...just not the police force!
BBC News - PSNI crisis: Officers craving strong leadership, says UUP leader

PSNI officers disciplined 'to allay threat to Sinn Féin policing support'

<< an odd decision.
These officers knew the political signal they were making in publicly (wrongly) arresting a victim of a loyalist attack at the anniversary of his attack
The #PSNI routinely, and often with Court backing, use politics to excuse not removing illegal bonfires, flags, and Protocol protests.
#NI should not have political policing for one side and apolitical for the others.
@fkamiah17 The #psni have had a whole series of security breaches. I wonder if they are all using Excel spreadsheets like the COVID ones were? Psni lost a file off the roof of a car, left one on a street outside a station, had a laptop stolen from a car, and answered a FOI by attaching their entire database of employees, names, station, level of officer etc. They don’t even seem to have basic system security to protect any information.
It seems the ability of #psni to lose information that should be secure is never-ending. @irelandpolitics https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sunday-life/news/psni-custody-papers-found-on-limavady-street-corner-in-latest-data-breach/a436814677.html
“In another incident, on Thursday 17 August, a PSNI laptop and a police officer’s notebook fell from the roof of a moving car on the M2 in Belfast.”
Don’t you know you’re only supposed to leave cups of coffee on the roof of your car, lads?
Some of these officers left a vehicle that had been seized in a raid outside the police station in the public view. It did not remain in an evidence secure state for very long. Laptop stolen, two data breaches, and now an officer leaving the information on the roof of a vehicle……. Lads, Laurel and Hardy would be more efficient. #psni #security #data #GDPR Hmmmmmm. @irelandpolitics

In the light of this week's PSNI leak, BBC's 'Blue Lights' has slightly more impact.

Isn’t it terribly convenient there was a #psni data breach or two recently? #dup are lagging in the polls and need something to rouse the voters. Paramilitaries can rattle a lot of cages by posting random A4 sheets here and there: and they are not bothered by including a #sinnfein politician as well. Coordination between Loyalist & Republican drug cartels is not unknown . Blaming Republicans is not the full picture, even if convenient @irelandpolitics
"It was put there to say: 'We do have this'."
No shit, Sherlock.
#PSNI and #UK voter breaches show #DataRisks should be taken more seriously
There were 9,000 breaches of #PersonalInformation last year but experts say not enough is being done to stop them

The notion that dissident republicans DON’T have that spreadsheet is laughable.

It’s another Oops for #PSNI. Why was a laptop with such sensitive information even left if a car at all? Why is there not sufficient security on the device to prevent it being accessed? This is more than incompetence. @irelandpolitics https://www.irishnews.com/paywall/tsb/irishnews/news/northernirelandnews/2023/08/09/news/ni_chief_constable_cuts_short_family_holiday_to_answer_questions_on_data_breach-3517577/content.html

Now what a double disaster at IT security in Britain!
Since August 2021(!), the #ElectoralCommission, the #UK election watchdog had a serious data breach, leaking information including the name and address of anyone in the UK who registered to vote between 2014 and 2022: https://www.theregister.com/2023/08/08/uk_electoral_commission_hacked_voter/
And on top, #PSNI lost control over the data of all #NI #police officers, including those who had to shield their identities: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/aug/09/police-officers-in-northern-ireland-may-leave-force-or-move-after-data-breach-psni

If you ever have someone in a workplace who just CBA about data protection - this 👇🏼 is why you need to be arsed: regard it as a preventive measure for these kinds of incidents.

I just posted the link on my tl. Hopefully I’ve copied it here for you. That there are 40 PSNI in MI5 is something I don’t like. And it will be interesting as people dig into the information to see if there is any link to the investigation into Noah Donaghue’s death. That child’s death was put under a P11 so something isn’t right there. Shaelish Vara signed it as NI SOS under Truss
