Disconnect the hard drive, and the power supply won't work because the load is too low!
Modern power supplies, on the other hand, have to handle everything from sleep mode (a few watts) to running intense video games (a kilowatt or more), and do so efficiently.
Tech has come a long way, and #PSU s are no exception.

I had the unpleasure to briefly own two of those, counting the first replacement they sent me. One of them rattled out after a month. The other flat out died after 8 hrs, nearly taking out the OS due to repeated restarts. Does anyone know the #PSU voltage/pinout for a Pace Linnet intelligent V21/23 modem?
I haven’t had much luck finding details online so far, and I’d like to see if it works!
I went poking about inside and there are two rails + ground, one seems to go straight to a 5v regulator but the other needs more tracing out.
It would save me the effort if someone knows the pinout or has one they can probe!
