Paper assigned to an issue in European Journal of Psychological Assessment: In this paper, we validated the Moral Growth Mindset Measure across people with different political affiliations. It is important since political views and inseparable from moral beliefs, so measures for moral development should be validated across different groups.

New #psyarxiv preprint coauthored with my new grad student, Marja. https://bit.ly/3MW767i Conducted syntheses of data collected previous experiments on moral exemplars.
Moral motivation was best promoted when 1. relatable and 2. attainable exemplars are employed with 3. autonomy-supporting methods (e.g., discussion) (see figures). Discussed implications based on the Self-determination Theory underscoring supports for 1. autonomy, 2. competence, and 3. relatedness, for motivation promotion.

Co-authored paper accepted for publication in Journal of Environmental Psychology. We examined gender, SES -> stressors (x social support & identity) -> psychological wellbeing during #COVID19 with #COVIDiSTRESS 2 dataset.
Women, low SES -> high stress -> low wellbeing. Social support & identity alleviated the negative association. May call for support for disadvantaged groups during the pandemic.

My paper (co-authored with my former student) was selected as a top cited paper in the Journal of #adolescence . In this paper, we applied a method in #datascience, elastic-net regression, to explore the best model predicting civic purpose development among young adults.

Title: Moral reasoning and moral competence as predictors of cooperative behavior in a social dilemma
In the prisoner's dilemma game, participants with developed (postconventional) moral reasoning and stronger moral competence (consistently applying reasoning across situations) more cooperated even after being defected by their counterparts.

“Considering the Purposes of Moral Education with Evidence in Neuroscience: Emphasis on Habituation of Virtues and Cultivation of Phronesis” is now published in Ethical Theory and Moral Practice. In this paper, I discussed the purposes of moral education based on virtue ethics and neuroscience.

New #psyarxiv preprint: Moral reasoning and moral competence as predictors of cooperative behavior in a social dilemma (co-authored with colleagues in Mexico) Link: https://bit.ly/3YHLAGI
Participants (recruited from México) with high moral reasoning (measured by the Defining Issues Test-2) and competence (measured by the Moral Competence Test) scores were more likely to cooperate with their counterparts even after the counterparts deceived them in the Prisoner's dilemma game (the sucker case)
New paper published in the Journal of #Moral #Education. Relatable (& attainable) moral exemplar stories effectively promote moral elevation and pleasantness. Moral educators may need to employ relatable (+ attainable) exemplars in their teaching.

My work proposing purposes of #moral #education, i.e., habituation of virtues and cultivation of practical wisdom (phronesis), based on virtue ethics and neuroscience (e.g., large-scale neuroimaging data syntheses, review of prior experimental studies, etc.) is accepted for publication in Ethical Theory and Moral Practice. Preprint available via #psyarxiv https://bit.ly/3vAQLvx Happy to have a paper addressing fundamental & theoretical issues in moral education in a journal in moral philosophy!
Paper (co-authored with my PhD graduate, Kelsie Dawson) has been accepted for publication in Journal of #Moral #Education. The perceived relatability of moral exemplars significantly predicts elevation and pleasantness (-> moral motivation). Attainability boosts the effect. Moral educators may need to consider employing relatable (+ attainable) moral exemplars to promote moral motivation among students effectively. A new preprint posted on my bday 🎂
Social norms, #trust, #stress, demographics, and #moral values predict compliance with #COVID19 preventive measures. Analysis of a global dataset #COVIDiSTRESS 2. Posted #psyarxiv https://bit.ly/3vONGYS
Social norms on compliance, trust in government and science, harm/care moral foundation, low stress, etc. predicted compliance. (+ being woman and older). Results may provide useful policy-wide insights.

I proposed 1. #virtue habituation + 2. practical #wisdom (phronesis) cultivation as goals for #moral education with evidence from #neuroscience (large-scale analysis of neuroimaging data, neurostimulation, Bayesian learning model, etc.).

New year's first preprint in
#PsyArXiv https://bit.ly/3Q6F2hy Relatable (+ attainable) #moral exemplar stories positively predicted moral elevation and pleasantness at the story level. Bayesian analysis was performed for model exploration. Relatability was fundamental while attainability boosted the association. Moral educators shall consider employing relatable (and attainable) moral exemplars to promote prosocial motivation and behavior.
