The #USPTO is EXTENDING the deadline for two pending requests for comments: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USPTO/bulletins/341f573
This includes the one request that asks, among other things whether the Office should create a separate design patent bar.
Instead of being due on Tuesday, the comments are now due January 31.

The USPTO will be hosing a "fireside chat" with Deputy Director Derrick Brent, moderated by Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Supervisory Patent Attorney Krista Flanagan on Thursday, on the topic of the Office's pending Federal Register notices. Side note: From the way this job description is written, it seems clear that anyone who has limited admission to the patent bar based on their design examining experience would not qualify to be an APJ, since the technical background is a separate requirement.
It's true that there aren't a *ton* of design patent cases at the PTAB. But I often wonder about how much knowledge/expertise the APJs have in that space.

More drama in the #Greciaverse: Earlier this month, Bank of America asked for a stay of its case pending resolution of #PTAB post-grant review proceeding against the patent-in-suit.
The court set a briefing schedule, but now Bank of America has asked the court for an emergency stay (or status conference) "because Plaintiff Wepay Global LLC has ceased communicating with Plaintiff’s counsel in this case."
