Don’t know why but I’m feeling rather grumpy and overwhelmed this morning. Might be the weather which remains humid and oppressive despite the light drizzle or maybe it’s because I’ve started clearing through some of the clutter in the house. Whatever the cause, it will pass. For a break, I wandered into town to do some grocery shopping and passed this wildflower patch in the middle of the park which sparked a little bit of joy so I thought I’d share it!

When businessman Hamilton Bland bought the property he intended as a private fishing pond – which rapidly evolved into a thriving #botanical #garden after his purchase of then-exotic Japanese irises – he also collected all eight species of #swan, include this #Mute Swan (#Cygnus #Olor).
Eventually he deeded the property over to #Sumter, South #Carolina for the public to enjoy as a #park where the swans and flowers could be enjoyed by all.
