You'll be unsurprised to learn that UK #households are worse off that their US equivalents... and that much of the difference lies in #housing costs & the continuing problem(s) with #productivity in the UK.

Perhaps (a little more interestingly), one thing that stops the wealth gap between US & UK growing is expense of #healthcare in the US & their dire #publicservcies (although here the UK is trying to catch up).

One echo of #LizTruss' weeks at the top seems to have faded; FT is reporting that #investmentzones, which Truss had wanted to proliferate widely as #Freeports & the like, will (in the budget) be scaled back to the 'normal' zones clustered round #universities & other research-intensive sites.... #JeremyHunt clearly trying on the voice-of-reason cloak here... pity, he's still draining #publicservcies of money to do it
