It's been almost a month since #Frankfurt #Südbahnhof station elevators are not working (for U-Bahn).

I can understand there was heavy Rain, but how about passengers travelling with baby strollers?

I asked at the #RMV help desk about the alternative route and the guy sitting on the help desk suggested to take escalators instead (which is not advisable with baby strollers).

Ideally noone would need a car becaise #PublicTransport would be so #affordable, #accessible and #comfortable that driving a #car is a massive #downgrade.

Like in #Singapore, #Hongkong, #Tokyo and #Amsterdam...

I always criticise the public transport in Launceston. Too slow, not enough buses etc. BUT today I caught the bus home (dropped off bike for repairs) and it was efficient and the bus driver was friendly. It only took me 15 mins to get home. I’m going to catch the bus more often! #PublicTransport

In #Lagos, der größten Stadt von #Nigeria, wurde gestern die Blaue Linie der neuen Stadtbahn eröffnet.

Die Stadtbahn akzeptiert die im öffentlichen Verkehr bereits etablierten Cowry-Guthabenkarten bzw. -Appzahlungen.

Bei einer aktuellen Krise kann die Stadtbahn helfen: im Mai hat die Regierung abrupt die Subsidierung von Benzin gestoppt. Seitdem ist der Autoverkehr in Lagos stark zurückgegangen. Menschen konnten sich ihre Arbeitswege nicht mehr leisten und mussten ihre Jobs kündigen. Berufsfahrer und Lieferanten wurden gekündigt. Einigen von ihnen bringt die Stadtbahn wieder Mobilität zurück.

@jon Those Korean built trains are a big improvement on what ran there 15 years ago.

However all diesel. I've no idea when #ireland will get round to electrifying the lines. Much less building out the network.

Connolly station is absolutely toxic due to diesel locomotives running continuously.

Usual story, loadsamoney for roads, next to none for #publictransport .

In the US, more than 60% of the 400 urban #PublicTransit agencies suspended #fares at one moment or the other during the #COVID-19 pandemic. Starting from only 11 cases of full fare-free public transport before 2020, this is quite the transformation.

I'll need to be commuting more regularly to Germany right now and likely will be there (even if just for a few days) every month. So bought the Deutschlandticket, a monthly subscription that allows me to use all regional public transport (buses, trams, trains with exception of the fast Intercity trains) for €49/month. So for the price of a bit more than a return train ticket from Cork to Dublin I can (slowly) tour all of Germany all month long.
