📢 In which sector do the highest-paid Dutch CEOs work 🤔? The banking industry? Tech industry? No, top the charts. There is little push-back from the academic community against ‘vender lock-in’ practices of scientific publishers. This needs to change!

“ …it’s time to fight the corporate approach to copyright that has increasingly come at the expense of equality, distributive justice, inclusivity, privacy, and self-determination–the urgent societal goals and values that drive many to become artists and writers in the first place. Securing the ownership of digital books for libraries is a good place to start.”

A question for

Is it normal to not send rejections for poetry?

One had a 144 day wait to read 129 words, before I marked it as No Response.

Four Yesterday had 71 and 76 days, with No Response for poems ranging from72 - 132 words.

One of the markets that had not responded, had published the chosen poetry over a month ago!

How long past a submission end period should I give them?

Are they even thinking about other publishers who may want that item?

They won't know they have done anything wrong.

And they will be blocked by . Per a couple of sites. That do not describe what they consider .

Spell and Grammar Check were listed on one site. Do they consider Word, Scrivener, , (Dragon), and Read Back programs that allow , , people, and people with cognitive disabilities to write?

How many will these polices block from being published?

check your sites well.

The blocking craze is going strong.

Yesterday, one market called an AI and does not want your work if you use spell check. Doesn't every use spell (and grammar) check?

Another claims if they suspect the story is AI, they will block your email, and not even reply or verify.

, , , cognitively disabled, and people for whom English is a second language will be left forever waiting on a reply.

Finnish are fed up.
finelib.fi/costs-of-scientific

" are demanding increasingly higher fees for reading scientific journals & publishing, even though the scientific community can't sustain even the current costs. The expenses have risen to a level that doesn't correspond to the benefits received from the services…The consortium is prepared that if the goals are not achieved…not all current scientific journal agreements can be continued."
