@gbhnews 10ish years ago when I still worked in #PubMedia there were quite a few of us who were trying to build interest in this and other ways to move the ball forward. Off the top of my head I can't think of a single one who didn't get frustrated (or defunded) and move on to other work.

Maybe with overdue generational change at the upper levels finally happening it's got more of a shot now.

So it's been longer since I left #publicMedia than the time I spent working in it, but if other #pubMedia folks are around I'd like to connect. One of the things that drove me into epic burnout was trying to get traction for the (to me fundamental) observation that media companies — especially public ones — must own and control their content distribution. Now I'm seeing #journos talking about Mastodon as a way to get there. Better late than never?
