Thank you ctrl-c admin. Everything's fixed now and i have a blank canvas to work with and a #pubnix server to faff about with.

Now to figure out what to DO with it as I'm honestly a rather boring person.

So my first foray into #pubnix ended with a few too many bad password attempts and now the admins are having to sort it.

I feel dumb. Of all the ways I break something, it's via the login screen.

@rysiek @emc2 Neo-luddites are already here, yet often they stay either on other networks than http-based ones (like #gopher, #gemini,#pubnix, etc) or they stay with non-IT tech.

Another approach that I find super logical is what communities like Amish do : before adopting a particular tech, they gather together and discuss - what are the pros, what are the cons and if it is worth it.

Unfortunately, in our freedom-chanting modern world, there is little space left for real choice.

Recently i stumbled upon a concept of a pubnix (most prominent examples being SDF, Tildeverse, rawtext.club). I've looked at some of the profiles (on tilde), yet i don't quite understand clearly what's this all about.

The first association i had was pico.sh — a collection of very minimal platforms with SSH authentication: a normal blog, a blog for lists, a pastebin and an image platform. But this is sharing-only, and i feel that pubnixes can do more than that (interaction, i assume?).

If anyone has an experience with pubnixes, could you please elaborate on what they are and what do people do there?
