This is the last Brinsley Schwarz album...but what a way to go out. A super strong set of Nick Lowe tunes, including the first appearance of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding".
I'd been looking for a good used copy of this for quite some time, and lucked out recently...

This is a '78 UK pressing. Amazing cover: I always thought it was sideways and wrong, but on closer inspection it actually folds out to be the full body of some sort of vampire or other type of humanoid monster. (Or maybe his nose is just like that...) Don't know much yet about The Rumour, but their genre Pub Rock seems to be a precursor to Post Punk and so New Wave, that I'm so fond of.

Am exchanging two songs a day with my 15 yr old daughter.
I am sending pre 2000 songs of various styles. Show her what it was like before autotune and drone rap and pop songs all sounding the same. Giving her a bit of an education.
While she is sending me current stuff she likes.
While I have been compiling songs lists, I noticed very few were females. Also what apealed to me growing up might not appeal to her. Then there are probably heaps of great songs from growing up in Australia, that I have forgotten all about.
So what great songs would you suggest?

Probably my favorite singer-songwriter, musician, etc., is celebrating his 74th birthday today. Happy birthday to Nick Lowe! From his roots in ‘70s pub rock to his crooner stage to the amazing stuff he’s done recently with Los Straitjackets, Basher is the real deal.
