A random photo from the archive for #TravelTuesday. This is a #sculpture of the director John Huston in Isla Cuale, a small river island in the heart of Puerto Vallarta. This area is filled with street art but this sculpture was erected to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the filming of Night of the Iguana in the city which helped to put the place on the map.

Something different than Siem Reap because I am feeling different. How about some Puerto Vallarta from 2021. Spent three months there swilling beer, eating tacos, and wandering around. Then off I went to Merida Mexico. Ended up living in Merida twice. I loved it that much. But all that ended when I came back to Asia. And I'm glad it did because Cambodia outdid itself and let me have my Alin.

For #FotoMontag here's some #BirdPhotography from #OnThisDay in 2019. We were in #Mexico and on the Malecón along the seafront of Puerto Vallarta. Admiring the sea views, architecture, and markings for the indigenous Huichol people in the promenade, we were also frequently swooped over and close by several pelicans. Some, frighteningly large.

Last night’s dinner in #puertovallarta was at Qué Bolá #quebola, a newish #cuban restaurant. Amazing food and service. Appetizer (first pic) was #plantain fritters topped with shrimp. Entree was a rice frittata with shrimp.

On the advice of a friend, we headed for the Zona Romántica in Puerto Vallarta and were not disappointed. The neighborhood is like you relocated the Castro to Mexico and added Canadian expats. Cafes, art galleries, bars, vacation rentals, and more bars. There was a ton of street art, plus a long beach where you can rent a lounge and be served drinks all day. Lovely people and lots to see. #PuertoVallarta

We're watching a #Travel programme in #PuertoVallarta in #Mexico and I just have to share my favourite photo from our visit there a few years ago. We were at #ElSet - a restaurant frequented by #ElizabethTaylor and #RichardBurton while he was filming #NightOfTheIguana - and one old local nearby decided to #moon us, thinking we couldn't see him. My #photography speed is legendary. His mate saw me shoot, laughed, told his friend I'd caught him, and he shuffled off quickly.
