Weird Tales vol. 14, no. 5 (November 1929)

I can't quite figure out if the knife-wielding guy, presumably the titular gray killer, is wearing Roman-influenced clothing or medical scrubs. And is the victim tied down or just twined with a couple of ribbons? She could make more of an effort to save herself is all I'm saying.

Well you can see why the people moved out of that spooky house. Scary trees with arms! Is the story called "Morne Perdu"? That means "lost mountain" and Google tells me it's in Haiti? Some kind of post-slavery horror?

This is a puzzle for sure. Their clothing looks like a sports uniform, but people are rushing to stop them fighting, so they shouldn't be doing it there? One of them was holding a briefcase then dropped it for the fight? And can this whole thing really be about a stolen dormouse?

I have to say, I have my suspicions about this one. I think someone already had a poster ready for a cowboy story, then someone needed a “queen of Venus” image in a hurry, and they quickly added wings to her horse and that ridiculous hat.

The Sea Girl is a 1930 lost world novel by Ray Cummings dealing with a lost world in the deeps of the ocean. As a bonus, there are mermaids. Of a sort. There's also a beautiful but evil undersea empress and atomic submarines. A fine adventure.

Love the ant, love the drama of the guy riding it. How does he stay on? How does he control the ant? Will that shiny blue rubber suit protect the guy from being bitten in half because he hasn't thought this through, has he.
