First navigation experience with @organicmaps today was very awesome. No cell service whatsoever in this German Black Forest area, but no problem for #OrganicMaps (while #PureMaps and #GoogleMaps failed). The search for objects of interest (pharmacies, restrooms, etc.) is also very accessible!

Does routing have current traffic info or can it be made to? 🤔 That'd be the only thing making it perfect. 👌

I've also noticed this at times with OSMAnd+ on Android. Especially when using it to navigate while in a motor vehicle, as opposed to on foot or bike.

Navigation with #puremaps with the #librem5 looks pretty slick.

For those with a #librem5 , we just added gnss-share and the ability to create encrypted Mobian images for the Librem 5!

I tested gnss-share with #puremaps , and it works great with car/bike/walking navigation.

Please note that by default, we will not provide images for encrypted images by default, we will only provide an image to make encrypted filesystems with the installer. We do this to prevent everyone having the same encryption key for their image.

#PureMaps is so far one of the most usable mobile apps I've come across.

#Puremaps on the #PinephonePro is surprisingly slick and decent. It's still got a few ugly #UI #UX quirks, but it makes it easy enough to enter a destination, get rapid directions, including turn-by-turn with voice and a nice 3d map as you go. It even seems to have traffic data?! (not sure where that's from...) and it's available directly in #KDE's #Discover app.

I was honestly expecting it to take 2-3 more years to get something this decent on #MobileLinux.

Way to go PureMaps team!

* On GNOME, gnome-passwordsafe is compatible with Keypass. It still has some scaling issues though. Don't know if there's an app on Plasma Mobile.
* #PureMaps is nice as a turn-by-turn navigation app, I used it for one year on an old phone with Ubuntu Touch. When I came back to Android last September, I was shocked by how convoluted OSMAnd felt. My only issue with PM is it supports only one destination. It's available as flatpak along with OSMScout server for offline maps.

If you want to contribute to @purism #fundyourapp challenge, please help putting Calendar back on the top. A missing phone adjusted Calendar app is the greatest missing app in the #GNOMEonMobile ecosystem. On the other hand, #PureMaps is already awesome and I doubt that Firefox can get much better than it already is with "firefox-mobile-config" without massive effort.

Back on Android, day 3

I've been using OSMAnd again... Boy I didn't remember how cluttered its UI is, with its gazillion of options. And route compute is so slow!

I had gotten the OSMAnd+ (paid) version from Google Play store. Had I known it would push ads I would have installed the free version from F-Droid. 🙄

I feel renewed appreciation for #PureMaps, and how well it's designed. The only thing I find missing in it is the ability to get navigation for multiple destinations.

What about trying #PureMaps? I was using it on #UbuntuTouch, I liked it a lot. There's a flatpak that can be installed on Mobian, possibly on other mobile distros. A native package or build would be better though.
