NSW Labor being left behind.
“The NSW union movement has a proud history of standing up for all working people. We have a rare chance at bipartisanship which will overwhelm the club lobby’s deceitful tactics of threatening jobs and communities to kill reform.”

The SMH reports today that there’s been an increase in applications for pokies to be able to be played between midnight & 4am. The evidence tells us this is the worst time for problem gamblers.
Councillor Pauline Lockie - Inner West Council and I called for poker machines to be shut down between midnight and 6am in our motion to Inner West Council last month but this and other evidence based reforms were rejected by Labor Councillors.
Chris Minns & NSW Labor should show some strength of character & stand up to Clubs NSW and the RSL & Services Clubs Association. The community wants reform and the Greens have pointed the way here: Cate Faehrman.org/pokies

Last night City of Sydney unanimously passed a very similar motion to my #PutPokiesInTheirPlace motion. Since both Liberal and Labor councillors voted for it, I’m hopeful that Inner West Labor councillors will support action to reduce gambling harm and not water the motion down to merely support an opt-in cashless gambling trial which solves none of the harms.
My motion is item 16 here: https://innerwest.infocouncil.biz/Open/2022/12/C_13122022_AGN_4000_AT_EXTRA_WEB.htm
