Although… it occurs to me that this thing could alternatively run my #pvm (remember when I talked about porting it to AVR?)…

Made some progress on the #pvm tonight. Got the subleq “core” debugged and even created a very basic “executable” format.

It’s so much fun designing a computer from the opcodes up.

Thinking about the #pvm this morning and what other hardware I could port it to (so far it’s written in #golang out of convenience, so it shares the same targets as that language).

It’s all still wip of course and doesn’t do much yet but based on what’s done so far I think I could make it fit into an 8-bit AVR/Arduino, which is a fairly nice test for the low-end of the spectrum.

Ultimately I want to make possible to run on work on 8-bit micros like the Z80/6800/etc. but I don’t have a great toolchain for such hardware yet (all I have for my #rc2014 is the ROM assembler and no storage 🤣).

But cramming it into an arduino would be a good exercise and test to make sure I’m not leaning on Go features too much.

Why has Reddit been down all day when I finally have a potential #PVM to purchase? Does anyone know if the Sony PVM-20S1WU would be good for SNES? I can’t any find info on if it supports 240p.

The HDRetrovision #SNES component cables arrived! Now I can ditch that last SCART cable. My Voultar RGB chip modded #N64 still looks great. Now with the added benefit of dual output to the HDTV (via RetroTink 5x) and the #PVM at the same time!

In #PVM, you get a series of progressively more coarse predictions at each level of autoencoders. If you use PVM to predict text (instead of video frames), these are like summaries of the text's topics.

So the idea is to represent memory as a big hash table, keyed by hashes of some quantized version of these feature vectors.

We add to this map on high prediction error ("salience"); when predicting, we lookup in the map based on the "topic vector" and add matches to input.

Any amazing #crt #pvm or #bvm nerds here ? I think recapping my d14h5 will fix some issues I’m having with it. I know there was an update to the caps used on the boards, and I can’t find the memo online anywhere! The other option is spending ~100$ on a recap kit from Savin-pat on eBay :(
