WCAG v1.0 wasn’t really taken seriously until Bruce Maguire made a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission in 2000 about the Sydney Olympic Games website. The rest, as they say, is history. AccessibilityOz Founder and CEO Gian Wild will discuss digital accessibility’s hard-won and progressive history, how it started, where it is now and where it’s headed. Mel directs the Digital Accessibility team at Coles. A11y Acceptance Criteria are bookends to user requirements signoff. They're outcome focused and a technology-neutral way to describe the result that a feature needs to demonstrate. They're also a great way to build accessibility capability. Reducing the likelihood of cut and paste code and helping developers understand at a deeper level how to build to be accessible. Do you have tickets yet? bit.ly/3jG6EhX

Presentations should be no more than 25 minutes for full presentations. Shorter presentations are welcome too. The term ‘presentation’ is very broad – it can be a formal presentation, chat, demo, something you found interesting related to disability and technology that you just want to talk about or something completely different – it’s all up to you. We also welcome presentations from people outside of Perth and have facilities to support presenting remotely.
