Not so easy at all. I started with a MicroSD reader for the #EPSON #PX8 #Geneva yesterday. Unfortunately with soldering. Because it does not work and I got BDOS errors I rebuild all on a breadboard today morning. And tried a normal card reader additionally. Seems they are very sensitive with the VCC voltage. With undervolting nothing works. Directly from the accu with ~4V everything works fine.

Successful evening! The selfmade #EPSON #PX8 serial cable works. Now simulating one or more floppy disc drives with the #MH20 simulator. This is programmed in Java and runs under #Debian without problems. I've to figure out the different CONFIG.COM options for the drive lettering now.

This opens a wide range of possibilities for the small "notebook".

Here we go! The first running #TurboPascal ever compiled on the #Epson #PX8. RAM-disk 120 is equipped with a new accu and holds it's content now without a power supply.

Today's evening plan is soldering a new accu pack for the #Epson ! 120 MB ! RAM - disc, drive A: And if enough time remains a serial cable to connect a #Debian ho(r)st.

Now printing a ROM cradle for the #EPSON #PX8, after searching for the right Slic3r config a while.
And burning a #Pascal ROM in parallel ;)

Phew, luckily nothing major broke during the recap. The #EPSON #PX8 welcomes you all to its second life. Unfortunately, I'm still missing the correct position of SW3 to use the internal system battery. But the main thing is that he survived the re-soldering. At the end there was now a conductor track that was interrupted.

The #Epson #PX8 seems to have trouble with it's voltage regulator after resoldering the elec.caps. 6V is unfine for the 5V line and the display don't get it's high voltage. Now it beep all lines in this area for potentially shorts or cuts.

I should often observe: "Never change a running system".

Guess what the postie brings in today. And what I'm preparing at the moment? Right, the #Epson #PX8 is nearly finished and I'm curious if everything is still working. Radio plays a live concert of 'The Kinks' - entertaining!
