Anyone have a date/location yet for #pycascades 2024? I'm sitting near our scientific programming / data viz folks and am trying to entice some of them into going. #python #pycon
Last month, I disassembled the Zen of Python for #PyCascades attendees in Vancouver. Now you can watch the video, and learn how to automatically win any #Python style argument you might get into.
ENJOY
Looks like the talks from @pycascades 2023 are being uploaded to YouTube right now ππΌ

I unravelled the `del` statement in #Python : https://snarky.ca/unravelling-del/
This should be the last update to my syntactic sugar blog series since no one had any other suggestions after my talk at #pycascades At least my #PyCon US talk will be a bit more accurate. π
I just published a blog where I unravel the `global` statement for #Python : https://snarky.ca/unravelling-global/
And with that I just made my #PyCascades last weekend out of date. π
Somehow it's here... #PyCascades 2023 is over π it's been such a lovely time hearing talks, chatting about python, working on open source, and being surrounded by an amazing community π see you all next time π π ποΈ
Thanks to some advice I got at #PyCascades, I have finally sorted out my Nexus card issues post-naturalization. https://offby1.website/posts/updating-your-nexus-enrollment-after-naturalizing-as-a-us-citizen.html
Unwinding after a wonderful weekend at #pycascades! I caught up with old friends, I learned things, and met some excellent new people. Can't wait to see you all at the next one!
Many thanks to the organizers, volunteers, speakers, and everyone who makes #PyCascades one of the most welcoming and inclusive conferences that Iβve ever attended. I look forward to it every year, making new friends on each visit, and youβre all so amazing!π
And thank you for continuing to enforce masking and vaccinations, so that we can all be safe together.
I canβt wait to see you all again in Seattle! βοΈ
My lightning talk at
@pycascades yesterday: What is @pycon and why you should come.
Our registration is still open and would love for you all to join us this year for 20 years anniversary.

Thanks and congrats @pycascades for a successful conference! ππ»
Thanks to the friendly and inclusive environment, my sons (now 12 and 10) were able to join and learn from the best during the conference.
not-so-secret bonus to sprints day: free bonus swag (we always order a little extra so we're prepared to fix mistakes) #pycascades #PyCascades2023
There is one respect where, despite being a small single-track two-day conference, #PyCascades accurately replicates the experience of the full #PyCon: some nights, you hit 9:30 and you are just. fucking. done.
Laying down in the bed in my BNB (not *air*, the old-style) and putting my feet up felt ahMAYzing.
This weekend I attended my first #PyCascades and I cannot recommend it enough. Great talks, nice venue and I got to the chance to meet awesome folks that also love Python πβ€οΈ
I even got the chance to give a lightning talk about PoochπΆ. You can checkout my slides here: https://www.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.22300822
Dinner with some new PyCascades friends. Forgive the blurry photo, we may have had some delicious sake and dumplings π #PyCascades
#PyCascades has the best vibes of any conference I've been to, and not just because the hold music is great.
Kudos to the @pycascades organizers for keeping the online experience going, even as the event went back to meeting in person this year.
The #chiptune music being played at @pycascades has been on fire all weekend!
Between a version of the Trololol song, there has been some really good PC DOS-era game music.
Really enjoyed @brianokkenβs talk on packaging pytest fixtures, both for the helpful content and because it was a great example of presenting a relatively abstract concept in an approachable way for a mixed audience. Slides are up at https://pythontest.com/pycascades-2023/ but youβll have to come back for the video! #pycascades
@pycascades can you make sure talks don't start early? It's kinda awkward to walk in 3 mins early and finding a talk has already started and there's no seats readily available. #pycascades
