Here is our favorite chill dog on a floppy. Uses an @adafruit #PyPortal solderless display module running #CircuitPython nightly with new GIF code by @markkomus and @danhalbert. What GIF would you like to see on a floppy disk?

@adafruit This uses the Floppy project we did last week featuring the @adafruit #PyPortal. I updated to the #CircuitPython 8.1.0 "beta" (nightly build from S3), sample code from @danhalbert and @markkomus and GIF of one of my old favorites from the web. Some GIF tweaking in ExGIF and boom, it works! I agree with Dan, GIF support may be very popular, as long as authors realize how to use the capability as it's not a desktop-like experience.

Some folks wanted a comparison on size. The "Electronic Floppy" is slightly bigger than a standard floppy and just a tad smaller than a ZIP100 disk. The thickness accommodates the @adafruit #PyPortal electronics.
