Not new, but still relevant piece on the #pyrocene Just like with other environmental issues, there's also here a root in the disassociation from + elevation of humans over nature. @benchaotica I’ve been wondering about growth in the #Pyrocene age and suspect that the system is self limiting. With drought, floods, fires there will be major losses in infrastructure, livelihoods and habitable regions so there will be mass migration and war. All except war tend to limit growth.

@CarbonBubble we have gone from #GlobalWarming to #GlobalHeating to #GlobalBoiling is quick succession. The #Pyrocene is most likely the name the future gives our time of #ClimateChange.

For me we still need to double down on what we can do today with the political climate we have and that means #ElectrifyEverything is still key including getting off #methane gas.

In a post yesterday morning about all the wildfires raging in Canada (https://climatejustice.social/@breadandcircuses/110689788939283384) I quoted a news article that listed very high figures for the numbers of forest fires and the areas burned.

But those numbers are already out of date, because the fires are even *worse* today. Much worse.

Instead of 677 fires actively burning, now there are 868. And 531 are out of control, up from 386.

🚨 We are in a climate emergency. 🚨
