So woodburning this variety of watercolor cardstock with a calligraphy nib gave this polished glossy surface that really surprised me!
The paper buckling is an issue, might have to look into getting an A3 size press to flatten prints if I'm going to do this regularly.

I'm going to have to look at #vpype or maybe @toxi 's library for pen plotting and see if I can tie speed and shading somehow.
A woodburning tool can do half tones and gradients where a laser is essentially pointillist.
A lot more control is possible, I just haven't hacked it together yet. Really excited!

Well, it's a glacially slow process but I'm really liking the way this polishes the paper and gives kind of irregular shading to the wider width lines.
Definitely different from a laser plot!

In the centre of waiting, uncertainty & transition, it’s easy to feel frustrated & trapped. This card reminds me there are gifts in every situation. Reflection happens inside pauses. Savvy followers may have seen my previous post. I also made bespoke wrist rests (plural!) for myself. These were made using the same process. 1 for 65-75% #mechanicalkeyboards & 1 for my 100%. I’m into #TabletopRPG #DnD #dungeonsanddragons so these both have an inlay of a gold piece from a dragon horde, to which I added a slight patina using vinegar & salt. I also used my #pyrography kit to etch my initials in Iokharik (the draconic alphabet from the #forgottenrealms campaign setting).

The recipient of this gift isn’t on Mastodon yet, but I just finished with it today and I had to tell SOMEONE, so I’m shouting it to the interwebs. As a house warming gift, I made my friend a bespoke wrist rest for his #mechanicalkeyboard, from scratch. Hand planed, cut ergo angles, sanded, stained, gloss finish, buffed, and with a pewter Jedi inlay. I also used my #pyrography kit and mediocre skills to etch his initials in the back in Aurebesh (the alphabet used in #StarWars ).

Hacking away at my queue today, so in the meantime, I'll share more woodburning! Here are a pair of wolves with burl noses, mostly as practice on larger slices of sassafras wood.
I've mostly been holding onto my larger pieces like these to see if any cracks develop where I screwed in the eyelets. So far, only one has been affected (and that one was on -very- porous wood).
