This time I used a hot air gun for desoldering my damaged SMD parts on the #qmx buck converter board to replace them by new ones. I replaced Q104 but lost one of the connector pads on Q103. It probably was damaged during my initial tries to move Q103 with the soldering iron. The remaining trace of Q103 is too short to make a safe connection. I‘ll have to order a new buck converter. The rest of the kit is finished. Let's wait again! #HamRadio #qrp #QRPLabs
Thinking about getting the #QRP #KitRadio for #HamRadio Digital modes, especially interested in #JS8Call. I think to get my feet wet, I'm going to go with the #QRPLabs QDX transceiver. Which band selection would be best to start and why?

I’m definitely a firm believer in the power of JS8Call. Hadn’t got down to the radio shack for a couple of days, found a message from VK2ZTY, they’re running 5 watts from a QRPLabs QDX. I’m running 5 watts from a Hermes-Lite SDR transceiver. I wish I’d been down here to reply, it would have been my first QRP QSO with Australia! 9615 miles with a ground mounted trap vertical.
Another post from my previous instance. Here's some QRP-Labs QMX/QCX slimline knobs I designed and printed. They just press fit on to the shafts. They're a little more ergonomic than the stock ones and sit alongside other gear in a bag better. STL on my Printables page:

Since no posts from my previous instances carried over (and it looks like not all my followers either, oh well) here's some shots of my last few #POTA activations! The radio in each of these is the new QRP-Labs QMX at apx 3-4W. The antenna in 3 of them is a Buddistick Pro and one is a 20m Sparkplug EFHW. The bike is a Biktrix Juggernaut Duo Classic. The dog is an Australian Shepherd named Bertie and she's the best #hamradio dog ever.

They were somewhere in Mugla or Milas but I'm not sure exactly where, or if they have a 'shop front'... :P
I made some low profile knobs for the QMX. I didn’t like the feel of the stock ones and with the possible SSB update I can foresee a lot of tuning around with the VFO knob. The STL is on my Printables page, link in bio.

For anyone who has or will build a QRP-Labs QMX this will help. I was cranking out FT8 contacts on 20m last night so it certainly works without the mod but this should help the 20m filter problem:
Not bad progress on the QDX build today. Capacitors, inductors, diodes and final transistors installed. (With sockets since I’ll almost certainly end up blowing them!) Next: The output transformer. But that’s a task for another day. Eyesight is still capable of through-hole construction! #QRPLabs #QDX #HamRadio
