They've come to learn I'm not a threat. It Came within 30 feet today. You can't have experiences like this in an #amateurradio #hamradio shack.

143 followers · 1351 posts · Server mastodon.radioWell this evening I had a really good chat to friend in Germany via a #YSF reflector in the UK, and I was doing #DMR2YSF cross-over at my end and it worked really well, it was my first really world test for a #QSO of 30min plus with no real dropouts or distortion etc.
Very happy with my #W0CHP #PiStar #Dash doing the hard work of coverting DMR TG to YSF reflector as there was no real transcoding done as DMR & YSF use the same vocoder.

Came across some cw and I maybe heard the last part of a #qso but not really much going on. Mostly I was excited to see how my #swr was I was happy with 2:1 across the band. I was surprised about how flat it was according to my little VNA. Anyway it was a enjoyable evening playing radio!

I had a #dremmittbrown moment this morning. "It works" with my #randomlengthwireantenna made of 26 AWG ultralight Stealth wire from #dxengineering. Right out of the gate 1st #pota #parksontheair #QSO with Rob #wc1n 28.5' radiator with 28.5' counterpoise Tuned 1.1:1 with #z817 #autotuner on 40,30,20,17,15,12 and 10 meters. Operating #portable / #mobile #ham on a #bike isn't always fun. A tire damage kicked me out for some time, heat and an approaching thunderstorm made me ride a bit faster than usual, and – as usual on this route – a lot of APRS data sent from the digipeaters but no #QSO.

On 8/8/21, I made my 1st #pota #parksontheair #QSO activation at K-7956. Today I completed my 2000th #QSO at K-7956.
